These training squads consists of athletes of all ages who are committed to improving their paddle technique and fitness. These sessions are coach-guided but athletes in this squad are expected to be able to train independently with or without other squad members. These sessions follow structured training programme set by the club head coach and are aimed at assisting athletes wishing to compete in the annual CRNZ calendar of events. The coach will let you know which squad you are in based on ability.
These squads are overseen by our Head Coach Gavin Elmiger.
Other Important Stuff to Know
Lights – All paddlers will need lights to be able to paddle in the morning sessions once it is dark so get prepared. You can buy from the sports or bike shops. Ideally a small white light at front (not too bright), and red at the back.
Access Key Tags – We recommend that all club members have their own access key tag. You can acquire one through our Shop. There is a $30 bond per key tag and they can be collected from club coach Gavin before or after training sessions by arrangement.
Boat Repairs – If you notice any damage to club gear please alert your coach ASAP. Please never put a boat away broken (even if it wasn’t you!). Let you coach know or email info@northshorecanoeclub.org.nz so it can be repaired.
