Welcome to the North Shore Canoe Club!

Kayaking is a diverse sport, providing opportunities for recreation, competition, fitness, adventure and challenge. It therefore has the advantage of being able to appeal to a wide range of individuals, abilities and ages across the whole community.

Our club vision: Inspiring People to Paddle

Located on the shore of Lake Pupuke in Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore, the North Shore Canoe Club welcomes members from all ability levels. Whether you're fit or unfit, novice or elite, youth or masters ages groups, whether you're a canoe sprinter honing your technique or a multi-sporter building up endurance - the North Shore Canoe Club is an ideal base for all! We are proud to support everyone from high performance athletes through to  those who just love the water and want to paddle to keep fit.

Some of New Zealand’s greatest paddlers across canoe sprint, marathon, surfski and multisport disciplines have learnt to paddle and built their talents here at our club.  This includes Olympians, past and present, like Ian Ferguson, Paul MacDonald, Lisa Carrington, Ben Fouhy, Steven Ferguson, Erin Taylor, Aimee Fisher, Teneale Hatton, Caitlin Regal and Alicia Hoskin and most recently Paralympian Corbin Hart. Other recent International level sprint paddlers have included Kacey Ngataki, Greer Morley, Grant Clancy, Tara Vaughan; Marathon, Surfski and Multisport elite club members have included Coast to Coast’s legend Gordon Walker; Surflivesaving Ironwoman Danielle MacKenzie; Marathon International level paddlers Vaughan Reed and Garth Spencer; Surfski International level paddlers Rachel Mayhew, Teneale Hatton, Garth Spencer, Vaughan Reed to name but a few. We are also pleased to support the majority of Canoe Racing New Zealand’s current High Performance Squad, New Zealand Team, and their coaches who train from our facilities. We are incredibly fortunate to have an environment where complete beginners entering the sport for the first time are training at the same facility as some of the best paddlers in the world!

North Shore Canoe Club is the largest flatwater sprint club in the country and we take  the largest team of paddlers to Canoe Racing New Zealand's Regional and National regattas every year. You don’t need to own your own boat or paddle to participate, the club has plenty of club gear to hire! Whether you just love the water and want to give kayaking a go, maybe wanting to challenge yourself and commit to learning a new sport or you're an experienced paddler new to the area wanting to be a part of a friendly welcoming club to call home - we would love to hear from you!

We look forward to welcoming you to our club.
